Because the Feds Feed Families Food Drive coincides with a Gleaners matching gift campaign, every purchase made on our food drive page will be matched by generous local organizations. The 2024 campaign emphasizes online food donations, while also offering guidance for in-person donations and events as appropriate. The Feds Feed Families Food Drive will run locally from July 15 – September 30, 2024.

The Feds Feed Families Food Drive is a voluntary nationwide effort for federal employees to collect and donate food for those in need. It began in response to the 2009 United We Serve Act, which encouraged Americans to contribute to the nation’s economic recovery by serving in their communities. During the summer months, demand for food increases significantly while donations decline, and Feds Feed Families addresses this need. Since its inception, the campaign has collected over 100 million pounds of food donations to support communities nationwide.
About Gleaners:
Headquartered in Detroit, Gleaners serves five Southeast Michigan counties: Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, and Monroe. Gleaners provides food to nearly 400 partner soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, schools, and other agencies across the region. They also supplement the efforts of these partners by offering direct service drive-up grocery distributions. In 2023, thanks to support like that of Feds Feed Families, Gleaners distributed more than 50 million pounds of food to our neighbors across Southeast Michigan.
