Our vision is to achieve equitable health outcomes for our patients, and an inclusive environment free from injustice for all patients, families, and staff.
The purpose of community engagement within the DEIJ committee is to better serve the community by improving our understanding of the community we serve and the health issues they face. The better we know our communities the better we can service them and help eliminate health care disparities.
Food insecurity is the condition of not having access to sufficient food, or food of an adequate quality, to meet one’s basic needs. Food insecurity is associated with health conditions, like diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. Health care expenses related to food insecurity cost about $1.8 billion in Michigan per year, according to 2019 research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. By sponsoring this virtual food and fund drive, our goal is to help decrease social and health challenges and improve the lives of the community we serve.
