Each year, Gleaners distributes more than 45 million pounds of nutritious food. With increased food insecurity as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Gleaners has become a lifeline for struggling households across Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Monroe counties.
Hunger is on the rise. Feeding America estimates that more people in southeast Michigan will struggle to eat in the months ahead:
778,000 people will face food insecurity
1 in every 4 children will struggle with hunger
