The Michigan Association of Nurse Anesthetists (MIANA) is a group of dedicated healthcare providers committed to providing safe and effective patient care, however, we do realize that our responsibility to patients and the community extends far beyond the clinical arena. This year has brought about practice and lifestyle changes.
Socially and politically our country is in an uproar and Covid-19 has exposed the existence of health and healthcare disparities in many of the communities across our state. While focusing daily on the provision of culturally competent, patient-centered clinical care our organization remains cognizant of the fact that there are families within our locale struggling to meet even the most basic physiologic needs including, but not limited to food security. The MANA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) ad hoc committee aims to foster a culture of inclusion and celebrate differences as well as similarities through intentional programming including educational offerings and community outreach.
