According to the National Institutes of Health, 10.7% of the population in Livingston County is currently facing food insecurity. That means that in a classroom of 30 people, three are likely to be affected by food insecurity. Food insecurity happens when a person struggles to supply an adequate amount of food for themselves or their family. Oftentimes, you may not even know when your neighbor or classmate is going through this struggle.
With Thanksgiving coming up, we want everybody to be able to enjoy a meal with their family and be relieved of this burden. Brighton High School has the opportunity to make an impact on our community through Gleaners Community Food Bank. By donating one dollar, you can provide three meals for someone facing food insecurity.
Help support your community by donating to the BHS Food Drive, which will run from October 26 until November 20. Any and all donations are welcome and can be given to your first hour teacher or sent to the link provided. Remember, BHS, change starts with you.
