Each fall, Wayne State University alumni from around the country come together for their Alumni Week of Service. This event showcases the incredible ways that #WarriorsGiveBack. This year, the group is partnering with Gleaners to provide meals for people throughout metro Detroit who are experiencing food insecurity. Since this fundraiser is taking place during a Gleaners matching gift campaign, every dollar will provide six meals for the community.
Warriors are invited to make a virtual donation throughout the fall to support the work of Gleaners. Additionally, on-site donation boxes for nonperishable items will be available at the alumni tailgate tent inside the stadium at the September 30th football game, where Wayne State University hosts Concordia – Ann Arbor. Attendees are encouraged to bring donations of canned and shelf-stable foods. Protein-rich items like peanut butter, canned chicken, canned tuna and beans are always in demand, as well as canned vegetables, fruits, cereal and oatmeal.
